Grounding.

December 24, 2021

1. Sitting and doing nothing except breathing at the start of every day, for at least 20 minutes, is still the best way to get organized and prepare yourself for what’s to come… that and a cold shower.

2. The list of things I know for sure is not growing, and that’s ok.

3. Words—and language—are tools, and they may be our best tools, but funny enough, they work best when they don’t have to.

4. Everyone truly is doing their best.

5. We can’t dismiss anything or anyone entirely. Remember, absolutes are always bad, and saying that is a great way to maintain your sense of humor. The hardest part is to not jump to absolutist conclusions. Mostly, it’s about both/and, which also allows for the extremes. If it exists, it has value. It just needs to be contextualized.

6. Ask. Don’t assume. It’s always better, and easier, to just ask.

7. Just because you may think something goes without saying, does not mean it doesn’t need to be said; the other person or people may want to hear it.

8. More often than not, solving a problem really is just math, and time is the most important variable. Time, Energy, Relationships and Money. These are our 4 main resources.

9. Speaking of messes, if in the process you are able to make a mess here and there, you are also able to clean it up.

10. Likewise, being afraid of getting hurt or of being uncomfortable does not change the fact that you’ll probably get hurt, and you’ll eventually feel some sort of discomfort.

11. Sure, movement is probably the best medicine, and in general, never forget that “movement” includes regularly having a good laugh, and a good cry.

12. Lastly success will happen when the motivation is pure. A friend said that to me this year. At the end of the day, success for me is a simple life, and real human connection.
