Learning.
Private sessions are the bread and butter of KORU. They are fun, and, they are like mini-intensives. It’s basically a “class.” Depending upon the group, it can be 45 minutes, and sometimes it’s over 2 hours. It really just depends on how much we are all open to learning.
No matter what, it’s about the learning…
Here are some notes (and footnotes) from someone’s 1st session yesterday:
“NATURAL”
ROTATIONAL
THE HAPPY BODY
FELDENKRAIS
SKELETAL ORGANIZATION
COMPRESSION

“REAL”
“Natural” relates most to AWARENESS. It’s easiest to perceive the relevant awareness while lying down, which is to say, when the only unavoidable force on your skeletal system/joints is gravity. Awareness of what, per se? PASSIVITY and ACTIVITY, ALLOWING and ENGAGING/INDUCING…
Skeletal Organization is essentially posture, aka alignment… we mostly pay attention to the PELVIS and SHOULDERS, the ball and socket areas, the most rotational areas… the humerus is to the femur as the elbow is to the knee (sans patella) as the wrist is to the ankle… to some extent…
Compression mostly refers to lengthening the spine, or remembering what a long spine even is. In order to do so, we need to respect 1) THE GROUND 2) OUR FEET AND LEGS 3) OUR RIBS and “ABS” 4) OUR HAMSTRINGS and GLUTES 5) OUR SACRUM-TAILBONE/COCYX and COLLARBONE/CLAVICLE…
In effect, we can feel a sense of FREEDOM (which apparently we all want) AS a head, to say the least. We have a relaxed tongue, jaw, eyes, scalp, and, BREATH.
Some curious quotes which came along the way:
1. “I should have been relaxed.”
2. “My stuff…”
3. “I feel tighter…”
4. “As we, as humans, inherently fucked, just because we have to stand?”
Should: This is not about RIGHT or WRONG. There’s no MORALITY here.
My “stuff” = ME = WHO/WHAT I am. My bones are not “things”; they are ME.
Tightness is in reference to “restricting”, in this context.
We CAN stand without problems. Absolutely. It’s a matter of choice, as are most things…
Especially how we relate to, quite simply, GROWTH (KORU) and what we need to discern as REALITY.
