Last year, I decided to leave my position as a successful HR manager, to pursue and nurture a calling to enrich people’s lives through dance and yoga – especially children. On my journey, I’ve witnessed that through dance and yoga, students have come out of their shell, learned a new skill, moved their bodies in new ways, increasing stamina and flexibility, improving their memories and conquering their self-perceptions.
I’ve worked with many different age groups and in different environments. From a daycare in New Hope PA, to 8-12 year-olds at the YMCA in Doylestown, to a senior center in London, UK. This year I have also had the opportunity to teach a variety of women’s groups.
Along with the stretching, breathing, balance and movement, I aim to find ‘life teaching moments’ during my classes, feeding my students’ spirits. I also help students gather the courage, and experience the camaraderie and exhilaration of performing in front of a crowd (or in front of me, or their families). Seeing their subsequent pride, confidence and joy on their faces when they succeed, are the moments that fill my soul.
My vision is to continue to encourage movement through dance, for all age groups. Connecting mind and spirit and positively energizing the body.
